August 2024 (page updated)

Dear Web Visitor:

Greetings from Florida.

For longer than I like to reveal I have been drawn to visual reporting on people experiencing and creating tumultuous political transition and to coverage of living conditions that sometimes help foment such transitions. I first studied, for examples, violent events in Nicaragua in the late 1970s and Sarajevo during the early 1990s. Since winter 2002 I have traveled (too infrequently) as an independent witness attempting to document some of the causes and consequences of social and political change and distress.

I have worked mostly in Haiti and have landed there 33 times. I have also taken my cameras and intentions to Georgia, Israel and the West Bank, Liberia, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Syria, Turkey, and Venezuela. I specialized in photojournalism at the University of Florida. In 2001, I received a master's in journalism from Marshall University.

Turning World Communications, LLC is an enterprise I first formed in 2007, and most of my published international photographs have appeared in Turning World Magazine. The company is the parent through which I offer services by assignment here.

If you are an editor whose faith in photojournalism has not been shaken by the accelerating pace of communications, by picture ubiquity, by evolving publishing models, artificial images, or by any other factor reshaping the profession then I am eager to communicate with you. Indeed, I hope we find time to meet.

Best Wishes,bwBrad Workman
